Leveraging the Power of Associations for New Magnitude of Leadership
ASAE & The Center are hosting an innovative Global Social Responsibility Summit April 30 to May 2, 2008, to define the role that associations can play in solving complex world economic, social, and environmental problems while simultaneously creating healthier organizations. The summit aims to collaboratively craft the principles, guidelines, and actions that will transform this initiative from conversation to action. In collaboration with this summit, WSAE will be hosting a "connected" site in Seattle for member to attend and participate.
This is not a typical conference. The Global Summit will be facilitated by Dr. David Cooperrider, Director of the Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit at Case Western Reserve University. Using the much-lauded appreciative inquiry management theory that he developed, Dr. Cooperrider will be guiding the summit and ongoing conversations surrounding the overall initiative. The Summit will demonstrate practical, hands-on methods for facilitating collaboration and how technology can assist in this process.
Washington was among the first states to express its intention to participate with a face-to-face one-day simultaneous Host Site on April 30. WSAE President Dick Davis noted that, "The WSAE Board is delighted to have our members sitting at the table with ASAE and The Center, and weighing in on this important discussion. We look forward to seeing and experiencing how this global conversation can leverage the power of associations and take association leadership statewide to the next level."
Expect to roll up your sleeves and plan a future we want to help create, as we:
- Join forces with other associations across Washington State and around the globe to create practices that can change the world - making a positive social, economic, and environmental impact.
- Engage in social responsibility and create healthier non-profits. Studies show benefits to associations include potential cost savings, more engaged members, motivated staff, increased visibility, easier employee recruitment, better risk management, and higher member retention and recruitment rates.
- Network with WSAE colleagues and non-profit leaders around the world to generate guiding principles for associations in the social responsibility arena, share strengths, and celebrate successes.
